Staying at The Lady Elizabeth

If you stay in one of the 7 beautiful boutique en-suite rooms, you couldn’t be better positioned to explore the many local attractions as, not only is the Lady Liz within a 5-minute walk of Gainsborough’s House Museum and Gallery (recently re-opened after a £4million + gallery extension), it also has a wealth of heritage buildings, churches and destinations to explore, including the regenerated St Peter’s Cultural Venue visible from the pub (re-opening September 2023); the stunning Water Meadows complete with Highland Cattle grazing freely throughout the late Spring/Summer and the Grade II listed working Quay Theatre which attracts high-quality acts from all over the UK.

Please note that this is a fully functioning venue for socialising and as such, follows familiar licencing hours.

Want to head further afield? There are numerous picturesque outlying villages and towns within a half-hour drive or cycle including the oft-filmed old wool town of Lavenham and the antiques mecca that is Long Melford – both with a fine Tudor heritage.

On Thursdays and Saturdays Sudbury hosts its bustling Market on your doorstep, full of fresh produce and independent stalls, with a Farmers Market on the last Friday of every month and special events on Market Hill throughout the year.
